Yarmouth is on the western pont of the Isle of Wight and it is situated on the River Yar. It is one of the oldest towns on the Island and was known in Saxon times as Eremue, which means muddy estuary.

There is a small castle, Yarmouth Castle that was built during the reign of King Henry VIII to protect it from raids by the French.

It has a small harbour that has the ferry to Lymington as well as a number of fishing boats and yachts. There are a number of options for visitors including fishing trips, or excursions to view the famous Needles rocks.

Yarmouth has a nice atmosphere and visitors enjoy walking through its quiet streets and soaking up its inate charm.
